[Mobile Post] Current Events

This is just a quick post to recap what has been going on around here. Most of this stuff is relevant to gaming or this blog directly; some of it is related in a secondary manner.

Computer
Simply put, I need a new computer because the desktop I currently own is passing 15 years of use. It has served me well but it definitely not up to snuff anymore. That is why so many of my recent posts have "mobile post" as part of the title. I am not quite sure what I am going to get but I am not worried about playing video games or anything like that; I need something for reading (forums and general web surfing) and writing (blogs, hobby stuff, and other personal writing). I am considering some sort of chromebook for those purposes. Does anybody reading this know enough to give an informed opinion? Can I work on documents offline? Can I install Open Office or Libre Office?

Fanzine
I am a big fan of the games put out by Perilous Journeys Publishing so I want to help spread the word and support Perilous Journeys (fantasy), SteamCraft (steampunk), and new games they release in the future. I figured the best way to do that would be through a fan periodical. I am finishing up on the first issue and it will be released soon.

Reading
I have been on a Brandon Sanderson kick lately. I have read the first two Mistborn novels and I am currently reading Words of Radiance with the last Mistborn novel of the original trilogy and Elantris up next. I borrowed the Numenera rulebook and it is pretty cool; reminds me of running across Talislanta for the first time. I have also begun to really take an interest in the FUDGE rules.

Writing
I am still working on projects in the background. The main ones are currently a game "highly inspired by Adventures in Fantasy", an alternate bio-tech disaster setting book for a zombie apocalypse game, and updating my Toldara campaign world for one or more games.

The holidays are over and I am back to work tomorrow night. More later..

DE: Black Heart Kabal With Alaitoc Allies

Eldar brings the pain.

With the new book coming over very soon and with my experience with it so far, I've decided to visit some old comrades of mine to see how they can benefit us to the fullest.  One thing's for damn sure:  Our cost savings have been huge and Black Heart Kabal has been absolutely fantastic for me.

To give you guys an idea how kick-ass Black Heart has been, last night I must have saved at least 15 or so wounds from rolling those 6+++ on my vehicles over the course of THREE turns.  I also started with 5 CPs since I was trying a hybrid Wych build and taking extra Relics and Warlord traits, but ended the game on T3 with 4 CPs AFTER casting a counterspell and multiple Cunning rolls on all the Strategems that were being thrown out.

I stand by firmly what I said before:  Kabal of the Black Heart is the best Kabal.  It's just too flexible and gives you a fantastic amount of protection for free.  The Wych Cult that I brought yesterday was also freaking insane.  I had a unit of Wyches with the Succubus in a Raider and the Succubus herself with the Whip and Blood Dancer threw out 14 freaking attacks (6s to hit turn into 3 hits!).  Check out the article from yesterday to get some better insight into my thought process there.  Sure, my friend had SS Termies eating all those Agonizer wounds (I think 9 or so) and saved like a boss, but if they were any single-wound model, she would have annihilated everyone.  That felt awesome.. especially since you can look at her cost and just shake your head how cost-effective that is (she's 54 points).

With that said, I've been having a blast with Dark Eldar so far.  They feel like they're in a good place so how do we turn it up a notch?  Well for one, we should look to our nearest kin who is CW Eldar.  Harlequins is right around the corner and there might be some good synergy there, but let's first look at what Psykers can bring to our army.

Here's the list:

1999 // 7 CP
Black Heart Battalion +3 CP

HQ:
Archon, Agonizer, Blaster, PGL = 94
Cunning, Living Muse

Archon, Agonizer, Blaster, PGL = 94

TROOP:
5x Warriors, Blaster = 47
10x Warriors, 2x Blaster, Dark Lance = 114
10x Warriors, 2x Blaster, Dark Lance = 114
10x Warriors, 2x Blaster, Dark Lance = 114

+++

Black Heart Spearhead +1 CP

HQ:
Archon, Blaster, PGL = 92

HEAVY:
Ravager, 3x Disintegrators = 125
Ravager, 3x Disintegrators = 125
Ravager, 3x Disintegrators = 125

PARTY BOATS:
Raider, Dark Lance = 85
Raider, Dark Lance = 85
Raider, Dark Lance = 85
Raider, Dark Lance = 85

+++

Alaitoc Patrol +0 CP

HQ:
Farseer Skyrunner = 135
Doom, Mind War

TROOP:
5x Rangers = 60

FLYER:
Hemlock Wraithfighter = 210
Jinx

Hemlock Wraithfighter = 210
Jinx

+++

Firepower:
9 Disintegrators at BS3+
6 Dark Lances at BS3+
7 Blasters at BS3+
3 Blaster at BS2+
26 Splinter Rifles at BS3+
4 Heavy D-Scythes at Auto

Yes, I was always an Alaitoc player.  Said no Eldar ever.

Here's what the Alaitoc Patrol offers:
  • Hemlocks - These things are insane with the -2 to Hit from Alaitoc and their auto-hitting S12 AP-4 D2 damage weapons.  Not to mention they can Smite, have Jinx and have built-in Spirit Stones.  Let's also not forget that they debuff leadership within 12" of them and that works very nicely with our sped up PFP table thanks to Black Heart, PGLs and Mind War.
  • Doomseer - This is damage consistency at its best.  The Skyrunner gives you movement to keep up with our army and Doom is arguably one of the best spells in the game.  It drastically increases the killing potential of all of your units on a single target and works perfectly with Disintegrators due to needing 5s in some cases vs. heavier armored targets.  This works very nicely in conjunction with Jinx because you're just increasing damage so much higher, turning Dissies into AP-4 in most cases vs. 2+ armor or removing that cover save bonus.
  • Mind War - With leadership debuffs, you can actually get this off pretty reliably and kill key targets before they ever get a chance to hit your lines.  When you have the right kinds of debuffs, this becomes a much more reliable Smite that can seriously threaten even the most daunting of foes i.e. Magnus.
  • Psychic Protection - Let's not forget that the Farseer can dispel twice a turn and so can the Hemlocks.  Enough said there I think.

Sure, I lose firepower overall, but I also gain Heavy D-Scythes that are utterly ridiculous in their own right.  I also gain the ability to turn up the damage big time on key targets when I want to and that cannot be underestimated.  What do you guys think?  Is this more powerful than pure Kabal?

Come And Play Oceanhorn 2 At GDC 18!

This year we travelled to a (not so) sunny San Francisco on Epic Games' invitation to show Oceanhorn 2 at the Unreal Engine venue at GDC 18. What an amazing opportunity! We prepared a great demo to show at the expo, so if you're an Oceanhorn fan, make sure to drop by and play the latest build of our game. You will also meet us, the developers, and have a chat!

Look at that! Our latest demo takes you to the Great Jungle of Pirta, where the Owru nation is divided by an old grudge. Will our heroes be able to unite the owrus and get them to join the fight against Mesmeroth's Dark Army.

Yes, I said heroes! One of the defining features of Oceanhorn 2 is the party members, who will be on your side through the adventure. Trin, the granddaughter of Arcadia's leader Archimedes and Gen, a mysterious robot wielding an old samurai weapon eki.

The game is still far from being finished, but it will be worth the wait!

Anthem | Preview, Release date, Gameplay, News, & more...

Anthem is the following huge IP from Bioware, the makers of the Mass Effect and Dragon Age series. First revealed at E3 2017, the epic science fiction RPG expects to unite single-player, multiplayer, shooting, and RPG components in a comparative vein to Bungie's Destiny franchise — yet from a third-individual point of view.
Pro-GamersArena has compiled everything you need to know about the upcoming BioWare's 'Anthem' including all the latest news, release date, gameplay and more...

Quick Facts:

  • Initial release date: 22 February 2019
  • Developer: BioWare
  • Engine: Frostbite 3
  • Platforms: PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Microsoft Windows.

Anthem: Releasing On 22 February 2019.

Anthem has officially been deferred to 2019 to prepare for Battlefield 5 in October 2018. The upcoming RPG will now release for PS4, Xbox One and PC on February 22nd, 2019, or, in other words previously the March 2019 release date EA proposed the game would have in a recent earnings report.

Anthem: What is it about?

Anthem's story includes antiquated mythical Gods and a wellspring of fantastic power called the Anthem. What that really is indistinct yet was utilized by the long-missing Gods (aliens?) to make the planet the game happens on, however then left or vanished before it was done. Quick forward to the future and the Anthem's as yet dynamic, making, transforming and defiling life and by and large botching up the planet. You play the job of a Freelancer; a courageous gathering that goes about as humankind's watchmen and scouts past the divider in Iron Man-like suits of reinforcement, known as Javelins.

Anthem: Gameplay Impression

Any individual who's come into contact with Anthem has had their socks knocked off. Each trailer and gameplay exhibit has been unimaginably great.

Our principle takes a gander at Anthem gameplay so far originates from the first E3 uncover. You can watch that above, however, the fundamental take away is that it's a community science fiction shooter where up to four players play the job of 'Freelancers,' utilizing profoundly upgradable and customizable "Javelin" exosuits to investigate an alien world. Anthem gameplay hopes to take a great deal of prompts from Destiny, with its attention on overcoming adversaries and taking missions to discover better rigging to get to better missions to show signs of improvement adapt... and so on.

Anthem: Javelin Classes?

Your decision of Javelin exosuit will characterize your Anthem diversion class. There are four composes which, from left to up there, are known as the Ranger, Colossus, Storm and Interceptor. You can swap unreservedly between any you may have, and a decent group is tied in with adjusting their capacities.

Ranger - Described by Bioware as "the everyman's Javelin'. This is fundamentally the default suit prescribed for when you don't generally recognize what you're going up against. It has "a pleasant parity", as per amusement chief Jon Warner: "it is very brave, some great capability, it has a fascinating scuffle strike. It's a decent all-rounder."

Colossus - Unsurprisingly this is a tank alternative, with a substantial shield, rather than an avoid, that can assimilate a lot of harm. It additionally has an unbelievable level mortar which makes it great at ran harm, and there's a railgun too.

Interceptor - This is as yet one suit we don't have the foggiest idea about that much about. It's quick and softly defensively covered with "ground-breaking cutting edges and a full suite of pulverizing capacities" that clearly implies it "exceeds expectations at getting in near perpetrate harm and debilitate its adversaries, at that point dashing without end before they can respond". We're getting a sort of assassin/rogue vibe from that.

Storm - This is pretty much the enchantment class with an emphasis on natural assaults that apply status impacts. So it's less about managing harm and more about setting up help for the group with buffs and debuffs. It's light on reinforcement, however, gives you a shield when you're noticeable all around.

Anthem: Trailers

So the above one is the official trailer launched by anthem games four months earlier.

Recently Anthem released another gameplay where you get to know about the games features, story.

Anthem: Latest News

Anthem's creative chief, Jonathan Warner, has uncovered that Bioware is getting a charge out of taking a shot at gameplay over the account

"It's critical to us that we make immersive universes, where you can have the friendship, and where you get the chance to be the hero of your own story," he told the magazine.

"I think those components are especially unblemished with Anthem. We're adding things to it, we're including these fascinating social narrating components to it. Yet, those minutes, that camaraderie and solid characters, those are particularly there."

Drew Karpyshyn's Departs from BioWare:
